About This Museum

This place is unlike any other museum you'll stumble upon—it's a stark, fascinating, and frankly chilling dive into the dark side of justice. Tucked away in the South Moravian wine region, it confronts you with the brutal tools societies once used to punish and interrogate. You walk through rooms filled with grim contraptions, each with a specific, horrifying purpose. It’s not a light-hearted day out, but it’s an incredibly powerful and thought-provoking experience that sticks with you long after you leave.

Collection Highlights

You'll come face-to-face with things like the Iron Maiden, that infamous spiked coffin, and the Judas Cradle. There are also more 'specialized' items like thumbscrews for crushing fingers and gruesome masks designed to publicly shame and silence people.

Visitor Information

It's right on Cihlářská street in Lednice, which is a beautiful town worth exploring afterwards to lighten the mood. Just be aware that the content is pretty intense, so it might not be the best spot for young kids or if you're particularly squeamish.

Architecture & Building

Housed in what looks like a historic town building, its simple exterior gives no hint of the sobering collection waiting inside.
