About This Museum

Believe it or not, this is the only surviving arsenal from the Knights of St. John still in its original building. Stepping inside feels like walking onto the set of an epic film, where the walls are lined with the actual tools of war that defended Malta. You'll find everything from ornate, full suits of Milanese plate armor to vast rows of muskets and wicked-looking halberds. It’s less a sterile museum and more a tangible, slightly intimidating, piece of the knights' daily reality.

Collection Highlights

Look for Grand Master Alof de Wignacourt's imposing suit of armor, a true status symbol of power. The walls are absolutely packed with thousands of weapons, including long cannons, elegant rapiers, and Ottoman swords captured in battle.

Visitor Information

You'll find it right there on the main square in Valletta, impossible to miss if you're heading towards St. John's Co-Cathedral. It's a fantastic stop for anyone fascinated by how history actually felt in the hands of those who lived it.

Architecture & Building

Housed in a grand, austere stone hall within the Grandmaster's Palace; think high vaulted ceilings and a no-frills military aesthetic built for function over flair.
