Malta Railway Museum
About This Museum
Believe it or not, Malta had a railway long before most cars ever rumbled onto the island. Tucked away in the old Attard Station, this museum is a true time capsule dedicated to that forgotten line. You can almost hear the ghost of the 'Congreve' locomotive pulling into what was once a bustling stop. It’s a wonderfully niche piece of Maltese history that feels more like a personal collection than a formal museum.
Collection Highlights
The star is the original station clock, forever stopped, alongside hefty brass ticket punches and beautifully preserved third-class wooden benches. Don't miss the intricate network maps and sepia-toned photographs that tell the story of every journey from Valletta to Mdina.
Visitor Information
It's just off Triq San Duminku—look for the distinctive, sand-colored building. Pop in on a Saturday morning; the volunteers there are full of stories you won't find in any guidebook.
Architecture & Building
The building itself is classic British colonial, with its warm, honey-colored limestone walls and a simple, functional design that was typical for station houses across the island.
