Malta Postal Museum & Arts Hub
About This Museum
You'd never guess it, but the very first letter sent via Malta's postal service dates all the way back to 1532—long before most of Valletta was even built. Tucked away on Archbishop Street, this place is a treasure trove for anyone who loves a good story. Forget dusty old shelves; here you'll find everything from vibrant vintage stamp collections to the actual mailbag used on the first airmail flight from the island in 1928. It’s a wonderfully intimate museum that feels more like stepping into a living room filled with centuries of correspondence.
Collection Highlights
Look for the priceless 'Head of Malta' stamps from the 1860s and the poignant 'Prisoner of War' mail from World War II, which gives you goosebumps just to look at.
Visitor Information
It's right in the heart of Valletta, so you can easily pop in after exploring the nearby St. John's Co-Cathedral. They're open most days, but do check their hours online as they can change with the seasons.
Architecture & Building
The building itself is a classic Valletta townhouse with a grand Baroque facade, but step inside and you're greeted by a surprisingly sleek, modern interior that makes the old collections really pop.
