The Roman Baths
About This Museum
People come to the Roman Baths not just to see an old ruin, but to stand where real Romans did, almost 2,000 years ago. You can actually walk on the original stone pavements around the steaming, green Great Bath and even taste the natural spring water in the Pump Room—it's warm and tastes very... mineral-y! The museum tucked underneath is incredible, filled with delicate curses etched onto lead tablets and ancient gems that fell through the floorboards. It’s a place that feels surprisingly alive, connecting you directly to the past.
Collection Highlights
The star is the Great Bath itself, fed by Britain's only hot spring, but don't miss the haunting curses written to the goddess Sulis Minerva and the stunning gilded bronze head of her cult statue.
