The Farm Shed Museum & Tourism Centre (incl Matta House and Kadina Story Museum)
About This Museum
You won't find dusty dioramas here; this is a place where you can crank the handle of a 19th-century copper ore crusher and feel the weight of history in your hands. The Farm Shed weaves together three distinct narratives under one vast, corrugated iron roof, telling the epic story of the Kadina region's transformation from pastoral land to a copper rush boomtown and back to an agricultural heartland. Itβs a deeply personal museum, filled with the tools, stories, and heirlooms donated by local families. You leave not just informed, but connected to the generations who built this place.
Collection Highlights
Get up close to hulking vintage tractors and see the original furnishings in Matta House, a beautifully preserved stone cottage from 1865. The Kadina Story Museum brings the copper mining era to life with everything from delicate lace gowns to hardy miner's picks.
Visitor Information
It's easy to spend half a day here, so wear comfortable shoes. The staff are famously friendly locals who are happy to share stories you won't find on any plaque.
