About This Museum

Everyone comes to MAGNT for the 'Sweetheart,' that infamous 5-meter saltwater crocodile suspended in a permanent, toothy lunge. But you quickly realize this place is so much more than its star reptile. I lost myself in the cool, dark rooms of the Cyclone Tracy exhibit, hearing the storm's terrifying howl, then was humbled by the profound beauty of Aboriginal bark paintings in the Yulyurlu: Lorna Fencer Napurrurla exhibition. It’s a museum that effortlessly connects the raw power of the Top End's environment with the deep, living culture of its First Peoples.

Collection Highlights

The 'Sweetheart' croc is a must-see, while the Cyclone Tracy display offers a powerful, immersive experience. The Indigenous art collections, particularly the bark paintings, are world-class and deeply moving.
