Selly Manor Museum
About This Museum
Tucked away in the Bournville village, Selly Manor's story is a fascinating one of rescue and reinvention. The timber-framed building was actually saved from demolition in the early 1900s by George Cadbury, of the famous chocolate-making family, who had it carefully moved piece-by-piece to its current green and pleasant site. Stepping inside feels like walking into a different era, with low ceilings and creaking floorboards that whisper of centuries past. Itβs a wonderfully intimate museum that gives you a tangible connection to Tudor life, all thanks to a philanthropic chocolatier.
Collection Highlights
You'll find rooms set up as they would have been centuries ago, complete with heavy oak furniture and a massive fireplace in the hall. Look for the 'Bournville Experience' display which charmingly details the Cadbury family's role in preserving this bit of history.
