Preston Park Museum & Grounds
About This Museum
People come to Preston Park for a proper step back in time, and they're never disappointed. You'll find yourself wandering from a grand Georgian mansion filled with the everyday objects of Teesside lives into 'The Street', a full-scale recreated Victorian row complete with a chemist's shop and a pub, all smelling of old wood and polish. Outside, the grounds sweep down to the River Tees, perfect for clearing your head after all that history. It’s the kind of place that doesn't just show you history, it lets you feel it for an afternoon.
Collection Highlights
The star is undoubtedly 'The Street', a painstakingly assembled Victorian village with working sweet shop windows and cobbles underfoot. Inside the main house, keep an eye out for the Spence collection of fine art and the recreated 1950s kitchen that will have your grandparents feeling nostalgic.

It's easy to find on Yarm Road, just on the Stockton side of the river. Make sure you give yourself a good few hours – you'll want to explore the house, potter down The Street, and still have time for a walk by the water.
