National Trust - The Children's Country House at Sudbury
About This Museum
Tucked away in the Derbyshire countryside, Sudbury Hall has watched over three centuries of history unfold. It's a place where the grand ambitions of the Restoration era meet the joyful echoes of childhood. Now known as The Children's Country House, its gilded chambers tell two stories: one of aristocratic splendour and another of toys, games, and youthful adventures. You can almost hear the rustle of silk from a long-ago party mixing with the distant laughter of children playing in the next room.
Collection Highlights
Don't miss the breathtaking Grand Staircase, a masterwork of woodcarving that's more art than architecture. Then, dive into the whimsical world of the 'Museum of Childhood' collection, where you'll find everything from intricate Victorian dollhouses to simple spinning tops that have been loved for generations.
Visitor Information
It's run by the National Trust, so members get in free. They've got plenty of hands-on activities for little ones to really bring the place to lifeβjust pop on their website for opening times before you set off.
