National Radio Centre
About This Museum
Tucked away in the historic Bletchley Park, the National Radio Centre feels like stepping into the very airwaves that connected the world. It’s a place where you can trace the entire story of wireless communication, from the faint crackle of early spark-gap transmitters to the crisp voices of modern amateur radio. I was completely captivated by the sheer ingenuity on display—it's a true hidden gem for anyone fascinated by how we learned to talk across continents. The atmosphere is wonderfully hands-on, filled with the low hum of active equipment and the enthusiastic chatter of volunteer operators.
Collection Highlights
Don't miss the stunning Art Deco-style Eddystone receivers, which are absolute beauties. You can also see a recreation of a typical 1920s 'shack' and try your hand at tuning in signals on working vintage equipment.
Visitor Information
It's located within the Bletchley Park grounds, so you'll need a ticket for the main site. The volunteers here are fantastic—their passion is infectious and they're always happy to share a story.
Architecture & Building
Housed in a modern, purpose-built wooden pavilion that fits surprisingly well next to the iconic WWII codebreaking huts.
