Museum of Illusions - Manchester
About This Museum
Forget everything you think you know about a typical, quiet museum visit. The Museum of Illusions in Manchester is a vibrant, brain-tickling playground where reality seems to bend before your eyes. Located right in the bustling heart of Market Street, this place is all about active participation, not passive observation. You'll find yourself laughing as you try to navigate the Vortex Tunnel and questioning your own senses in rooms that defy gravity. It’s less of a history lesson and more of a thrilling workout for your mind.
Collection Highlights
The Ames Room, where people magically shrink and grow before your eyes, is a total crowd-pleaser. You can't miss the Infinity Room, a dazzling kaleidoscope of light that feels endless, and trying to take a 'normal' photo on the slanted Tilted Room is hilariously impossible. My personal favorite was battling dizziness while walking through the spinning Vortex Tunnel.
Visitor Information
It's brilliantly located for a city centre day out, right on Market Street near the Arndale. Book online to skip the queues, especially on weekends—this place is massively popular with families and groups of friends. Be prepared to take loads of photos; your camera roll will be full of mind-bending souvenirs.

Housed inside a modern city-centre building, the exterior gives nothing away. But step inside, and you're plunged into a bright, contemporary space designed specifically to mess with your perception.
