Museum of East Dorset
About This Museum
Tucked away on Wimborne's High Street, the Museum of East Dorset feels more like a series of old friends' parlours than a formal institution. It grew from the passion of local folk who wanted to preserve the everyday stories of our corner of Dorset. You'll wander from a recreated Victorian kitchen, smelling faintly of beeswax and old wood, into a room filled with archaeology dug up from local fields. It’s a wonderfully intimate place that truly captures the spirit of the town.
Collection Highlights
Don't miss the charming period rooms, especially the Victorian kitchen stocked with genuine utensils. The costume gallery showcases beautiful lace and everyday wear, while the archaeology displays tell a story of the land from prehistory onwards using finds from round here.
