Glasgow Science Centre
About This Museum
Right on the banks of the River Clyde, the Glasgow Science Centre is this incredible, futuristic-looking building that just begs you to come and play. Inside, it's a total hands-on playground where you can generate power on a giant hamster wheel, lie on a bed of nails without getting poked, and even experience the dizzying forces of a spinning gyroscope. Up in the planetarium, you can get lost in the depths of space, and the IMAX theatre makes you feel like you're actually inside the film. Itβs honestly one of those places where you lose track of time because there's just so much to touch, see, and do.
Collection Highlights
The giant hamster wheel for generating electricity is a crowd favourite, along with the mind-bending optical illusions and live science shows that often involve exciting (and loud) experiments.
Visitor Information
It's super easy to find at Pacific Quay, and there are cafes inside for when you need a coffee or a bite. Just be sure to book planetarium and IMAX tickets in advance as they fill up quickly!
Architecture & Building
The main building is a stunning, curving silver structure that looks like a giant ship or seashell, covered in titanium and reflecting the sky and river.
