About This Museum

Tucked away on a steep side street in the heart of Fowey, this little museum is an absolute gem. I ducked in out of a passing rain shower and was instantly transported back through centuries of this harbour town's life. It’s the kind of place where every object tells a story, from shipwrecks to literary legends. You get a real sense of the town's deep connection to the sea and its colourful past.

Collection Highlights

Don't miss the intricate model of Fowey as it looked in the 1600s, complete with tiny ships. I was also captivated by the relics salvaged from shipwrecks and the personal letters from Daphne du Maurier, who made this area her home.

Visitor Information

It's small, so you can easily see everything in under an hourβ€”perfect for a rainy day or before popping into a nearby pub. Just be prepared for steep stairs; it's all part of the old-world charm.

Architecture & Building

Housed in an adorable whitewashed building that was once a schoolhouse, it feels wonderfully authentic and crammed with history.
