About This Museum

Believe it or not, one of the UK's most fascinating tech collections is tucked away above a row of shops. The Derby Computer Museum occupies the bright, open-plan top floor of a historic brick building on Iron Gate. It’s a wonderfully hands-on place where you’re actively encouraged to play classic games on the original hardware. This isn't a silent gallery; it's a living, beeping tribute to our digital past.

Collection Highlights

Get your thumbs ready for the massive console collection, from a pristine Atari 2600 to the iconic Nintendo 64. You can also tinker with classic BBC Micros and see the kind of bulky desktop PCs that defined the 1990s office.

Visitor Information

It's run by passionate volunteers, so it's best to check their social media for current opening times before you visit. Entry is free, but donations are very welcome to help keep this little gem running.

Architecture & Building

Housed in a converted Victorian-era retail building, the museum itself is a surprise, feeling like a spacious and modern loft hidden within the old brick-and-beam structure.
