About This Museum
The story of the National Tramway Museum began in 1955, when a group of enthusiasts saved a single Sheffield tram from the scrapyard. Today, it's the heart of Crich Tramway Village, a purpose-built period street that feels frozen in time. You can ride beautifully restored trams from across the UK and beyond along a scenic mile-long track. The whole place hums with the clatter of tracks and the buzz of living history, making for a wonderfully nostalgic day out.
Collection Highlights
Don't miss the magnificent Blackpool 'Balloon' tram, all gleaming varnish and brilliant chrome, or step inside the grim but fascinating 'Feltham' tram, which served London through the Blitz. Look out for trams from as far afield as Johannesburg and New York City.
Visitor Information
Your entry ticket includes unlimited tram rides all day, so you can hop on and off as you please. It's a fantastic spot for families, with a dedicated play area and plenty of open space to explore just outside Matlock.

The museum is set up as a charming fictional village street, assembled from historic building facades rescued from towns across Britain. You'll find a classic pub, an old-style sweet shop, and period advertisements, all creating an immersive early 20th-century atmosphere.
