Callendar House
About This Museum
Tucked away within the lush, green expanse of Falkirk's parkland, Callendar House is a delightful surprise. You approach and it feels like stepping through time, with this grand 19th-century chateau facade rising proudly beside the sturdy stonework of a much older medieval tower. Inside, the past feels wonderfully alive—you're just as likely to be greeted by a member of staff in full Georgian costume as you are by a priceless antique. It’s the kind of place where history isn't just displayed behind glass; it walks and talks with you.
Collection Highlights
Don't miss the fully restored 1820s kitchen, where you can almost smell the bread baking, and the intriguing permanent exhibition that delves into the area's Roman history along the Antonine Wall.
