Aberdeen Science Centre
About This Museum
Tucked away on Constitution Street, the Aberdeen Science Centre has been sparking that 'aha!' moment for bairns and adults alike for decades now. It's not a place of dusty cabinets and 'do not touch' signs; the whole point is to get your hands on things. You'll find the whole family pulled into a world of whirring gears, bubbling chemicals, and light-up puzzles. It’s the city's own little hub for curiosity, where the questions 'how?' and 'why?' are always welcome.
Collection Highlights
Kids absolutely love the giant Energy Ball, where your hair stands on end with just a touch. You can't miss the Planetarium, a wee dome that takes you on a tour of the stars right from Aberdeen. And in their Energy Lab, you get to build and test your own miniature wind turbines—a perfect nod to our local industry.
Visitor Information
Pop in any day of the week, but do book ahead for their popular live science shows and messy workshops – they fill up fast. It's the kind of spot you can easily spend a full afternoon in without anyone getting bored.
Architecture & Building
Housed in a converted, rather handsome old tram depot, it’s got that lovely solid granite front you see all over the city. The old industrial character of the building makes a brilliant contrast to all the modern, interactive gadgetry inside.
