West Coast Tree Top - Zipline South Island
About This Museum
People don't just come to West Coast Tree Top for the thrill; they come for the perspective. You find yourself walking a gentle, swaying pathway twenty metres high, completely enveloped by the emerald canopy of ancient rimu trees. The air is cool and smells of damp earth and pine, and the only sounds are the creak of the walkway and the distant call of native birds. It’s a place that forces you to slow down and truly see the forest, not just look at it.
Collection Highlights
The journey along the canopy walkway is the main event, but don't miss the spiral viewing tower that pushes you even higher for breathtaking views over the treetops to the Southern Alps.
Visitor Information
After your walk among the giants, the on-site cafe is perfect for a coffee with a view, and the souvenir shop offers thoughtful local crafts. You'll find it all on Woodstock-Rimu Road, just outside Hokitika.
Architecture & Building
The structure is an elegant feat of engineering designed to be as unobtrusive as possible—a series of suspended bridges and platforms that seem to float within the forest itself.
