Te Toi Uku - Crown Lynn & Clayworks Museum

★★★★★ 4.4/5 (472 reviews) Very Good

About This Museum

Tucked away in the old Ambrico brickworks building in New Lynn, Te Toi Uku tells the story of New Zealand's most famous pottery. For decades, the Crown Lynn works churned out everything from elegant coffee sets to those iconic swirly kitchen jars, becoming a true Kiwi institution. Stepping inside feels like walking onto the factory floor itself, surrounded by the ghosts of industry and craftsmanship. It’s a wonderfully personal museum that connects you directly to a slice of Auckland’s working-class history.

Collection Highlights

You can't miss the towering 'biscuit stack' of unfired plates and the vast wall of ceramic moulds. They have an incredible collection of classic Crown Lynn tableware, including rare 'Elk' and 'Pine' pattern pieces, and even some of the quirky items like the million-mile coffee sets made for our national airlines.
