Sapporo Olympic Museum
About This Museum
People come up here to the museum, not just for the view over Sapporo, but to feel a bit of that 1972 winter magic. You can almost hear the roar of the crowds from those old black-and-white films playing. It’s a place that really captures the spirit and sheer audacity of hosting the Games. Stepping inside, you leave the present day behind and are transported right to the foot of the ski jump.
Collection Highlights
The heart of it is, of course, the torch and medals from our '72 Games, but everyone makes a beeline for the ski jump simulator. It's a thrill that gives you a real sense of the athlete's perspective. Don't miss the bobsled simulator either; it rattles your bones in the best way possible.
Visitor Information
It's tucked away up in Miyanomori, right near the actual Okurayama Jump Stadium, so you get a real sense of place. Easy to pair with a trip to see the jump itself in person.
Architecture & Building
A modern, clean-lined building that feels fittingly athletic and functional, built into the hillside with large windows framing the iconic ski jumps outside.
