About This Museum
Tucked away in Shizuoka, the Rodin Wing feels like a quiet secret, a little piece of France that found a home here in Japan. It's one of only three dedicated public Rodin museums outside of France, which makes our collection rather special. You won't just find a few small pieces; we have deep holdings, including powerful bronzes and delicate plasters that trace the artist's creative process. It’s a serene spot where the legacy of the great sculptor feels very much alive.
Collection Highlights
The star of the show is our bronze cast of 'The Gates of Hell,' a monumental piece you can truly lose yourself in. We also have several versions of his most famous works, like 'The Thinker' and 'The Kiss,' each with its own character. Don't miss the smaller maquettes and plaster studies—they let you see the raw, unfinished energy of Rodin's hands at work.
