National Science Museum
About This Museum
Stepping into the National Science Museum feels less like entering a stuffy old building and more like boarding a spaceship bound for the future. I was immediately drawn into the vast, open halls, where the quiet hum of engaged curiosity replaces the usual museum silence. One moment I was walking under the colossal skeleton of a gray whale, and the next I was completely lost in the mesmerizing, swirling visuals of the Earth's atmosphere in the climate change exhibit. It’s a place that doesn’t just show you science—it lets you grab hold of it and play.
Collection Highlights
Don't miss the incredible Natural History Hall with its towering whale skeleton, and make time for the hands-on Basic Science Hall where you can genuinely feel physics in action. The crown jewel for me, though, was the planetarium show, which felt like a serene, star-dusted escape.
Visitor Information
It's out in Daejeon's Yuseong District, so it makes for a perfect day trip from Seoul if you're craving a break from the city bustle. Just a heads-up, you'll want to book your planetarium tickets online in advance as they sell out fast!
Architecture & Building
The main building is this grand, modern structure with sweeping curves and lots of glass, giving it a distinctly futuristic vibe that perfectly matches its mission.
