About This Museum

Folks wander into our corner of Gangneung for all sorts of reasons, but they always leave talking about the sound. This isn't your typical quiet museum; it's a place where history crackles to life. You'll see a wall of gleaming brass horns from a bygone era and then, just steps away, stand before Thomas Edison's actual lab bench, dark with age and oil. It’s the sheer personal connection to these world-changing inventors that catches everyone by surprise.

Collection Highlights

The heart of the collection is a stunning array of over a thousand gramophones, from elegant mahogany cabinet models to a breathtaking solid gold machine. The Edison wing feels almost sacred, displaying not just his early light bulbs and phonographs, but also the very beaker he used to discover the Edison Effect—the foundation of modern electronics.
