About This Museum

You know how most courthouse museums feel a bit stiff? This one is completely different because it's tucked right inside the actual, working Palace of Justice in Goiás. It feels less like a sterile exhibit and more like you've been given a backstage pass to legal history. The whole place has this incredible energy, probably because real judges and lawyers are still walking the halls just outside the door. It’s a living museum in the truest sense.

Collection Highlights

They have these fascinating old judicial robes and wigs that make you picture the courtroom dramas of centuries past. One of the coolest things is getting to see original, handwritten court documents from the 18th and 19th centuries—the elegant, looping script alone is a piece of art. You'll also find heavy, leather-bound law books and vintage photographs that tell the story of justice in this region.

Visitor Information

It's small but mighty, so you can easily see everything in under an hour without feeling rushed. Since it's inside a functioning government building, it's best to check their current opening hours online before you go—it might be closed on weekends or holidays. The staff are surprisingly friendly and often share little stories you won't find on any plaque.

Architecture & Building

The museum is housed within the modern, imposing concrete structure of the Palace of Justice, which gives it a serious, official atmosphere.
