Goiânia Art Museum
About This Museum
The Museu de Arte de Goiânia, or MAG as we locals call it, has been a cornerstone of our city's cultural life for decades. It sits nestled in the green expanse of Bosque dos Buritis, one of Goiânia's oldest parks, which gives the place a wonderfully serene feel. Inside, you'll find a collection that truly tells the story of our region's creative spirit, from the pioneering modernists who shaped Goiás to the vibrant artists working today. It’s less a formal institution and more a living, breathing part of our community.
Collection Highlights
You can't miss the powerful sculptures by Siron Franco and the deeply moving paintings of Nazareno Confaloni. They also have this fantastic collection of sacred art from the 18th and 19th centuries that feels like stepping back in time. The rotating exhibits are always a surprise, often showcasing sharp new talent from right here in Brazil's heartland.
Visitor Information
Wandering through its airy galleries is always free, which is just wonderful. It's a perfect spot to spend a quiet afternoon after a stroll through the park—just check their hours online as they can change for holidays.
Architecture & Building
The building itself is a beautiful example of Goiânia's distinct modernist style, all clean lines and open spaces that blend seamlessly with the lush parkland outside.
