Fusterlandia
About This Museum
Believe it or not, one of Havana's most dazzling attractions began with a single tile. What started as artist José Fuster decorating his own home in the Jaimanitas neighborhood has since spilled out, quite literally, to cover entire streets in a vibrant, public fever dream. Walking through Fusterlandia feels like stepping into a Gaudi-esque wonderland, where shimmering benches, swirling archways, and even street signs are clad in colorful, broken ceramic mosaics. It’s a living, breathing piece of folk art that completely transforms a community.
Collection Highlights
You'll find a giant mosaic chess set, a rooftop park guarded by towering fish sculptures, and walls depicting everything from Cuban santería symbols to whimsical palm trees. The entire neighborhood is the main exhibit.
Visitor Information
Just head to the Jaimanitas district—it's an open-air museum so you can wander anytime, but the artist's main house sometimes offers tours for a small fee.
Architecture & Building
A fantastical and organic explosion of 'Gaudí-meets-Caribbean' style, where dozens of ordinary houses and structures are encrusted with intricate, colorful tile-work.
