You wouldn't believe it, but this museum holds one of Salvador Dalí's most famous paintings right here in Fukuoka. Tucked away in the lush Ohori Park, it feels like a modern concrete treasure box just waiting to be opened. Inside, the journey is wild—you can go from staring at a mysterious 3rd-century clay dogū figure one minute to getting lost in a vibrant contemporary Japanese painting the next. It’s this incredible, seamless mix of ancient ritual and modern energy that totally captivated me.
Collection Highlights
Look for the mesmerizing 'Mae West's Lips' sofa by Dalí, then discover the serene beauty of ancient haniwa figures and Buddhist art. The collection of modern Japanese nihonga paintings is also a standout.
