About This Museum

Believe it or not, this charming red cottage was once the childhood summer home of Sweden's most famous scientist, Carl Linnaeus. Today, it feels less like a formal museum and more like stepping directly into the 18th century. You can almost hear the rustle of linen and smell the herbs drying by the hearth. The rooms are kept as if the Linnaeus family has just stepped out for a walk in the meadow.

Collection Highlights

Look for Linnaeus's own floral-print waistcoat and his simple wooden bed. The kitchen is a particular delight, filled with authentic copper pots and an enormous fireplace where meals for the large household were prepared.

Visitor Information

The cottage is open, but you'll need to book your visit in advance—this isn't a place for drop-ins, which makes a tour here feel wonderfully personal and uncrowded.

Architecture & Building

It's a classic Swedish torp, or croft, with white cornering and a steep, turf-covered roof that seems to sprout wildflowers.
