People often wander into our museum at S:t Eriks torg looking for the story behind Uppsala, the one that goes deeper than the famous cathedral. You'll find it here, in the hum of a Viking-age loom or the faded ink of a 19th-century diary. It’s not just a sequence of dates, but a collection of lives lived in this very soil. By the time you leave, you feel the weight and warmth of this county's long memory.
Collection Highlights
Look for the intricate gold rings from a Vendel-era chieftain's grave and the surprisingly cozy 'Uppsala Kitchen' from the 1950s, complete with its original linoleum floor.
Visitor Information
It's right by the Fyris River in a building we call 'the Academy Mill'. Check their board for talks or workshops – they often have something interesting on for families.
