Urner Mineralien-Museum
About This Museum
Tucked away in the heart of the Swiss Alps, the Urner Mineralien-Museum holds a secret: its collection was born from a single local postman's lifelong passion for hunting crystals. You won't find sterile, silent halls here; instead, the space feels more like a geode cracked open to reveal its glittering inner world. The sheer variety is staggering, from thumbnail-sized specimens to hulking quartz formations that dwarf the display cases. It’s a deeply personal and surprisingly intimate celebration of the region's subterranean art.
Collection Highlights
The museum shines with stunning pink adularia 'ice spars' from the local Klausen Pass and dramatic black stibnite crystals that look like metallic sculptures. One of their crowning glories is a flawless, water-clear rock crystal group known as the 'St. Gotthard Diamond'.
