Trullo Sovrano
About This Museum
So, I finally visited that famous trullo house everyone talks about, and it completely blew my mind. It's not just any old hut; this two-story beauty was built way back in the 1700s by a wealthy priest's family, which totally explains why it's so grand compared to the others. Wandering through its cool, whitewashed rooms under those incredible conical roofs, you get this amazing sense of stepping directly into the past. They've kept everything so authentic, with tools and furniture just sitting there as if the family had only just stepped out.
Collection Highlights
The heart of the place is the master bedroom with its original, ornately carved four-poster bed, and I was fascinated by the little kitchen area with all its copper pots and ancient cooking gadgets. Upstairs, they have a loom set up that really shows you the kind of domestic work that went on here.
Visitor Information
It's right there in the middle of Alberobello's historic district on Piazza Sacramentoβyou literally can't miss it. Definitely wear good shoes because some of the stone floors are a bit uneven!
Architecture & Building
It's a stunning example of Apulian dry-stone construction, featuring those iconic conical roofs stacked up to create a proper two-story home, which is super rare for a trullo.
