Thorvaldsens Museum is a wonderfully personal place, conceived by the sculptor himself to hold a lifetime of his work and, eventually, his remains. Stepping inside feels like entering his world, with vibrant ochre and Pompeian red walls setting the stage for an army of marble gods and heroes. Every corridor and courtyard is packed with plaster casts, paintings, and personal curios he collected, creating an overwhelming but intimate glimpse into a single artistic mind.
Collection Highlights
You can't miss the colossal statue of Christ, a replica of his famous work in Copenhagen's Cathedral, or the breathtaking 'Ganymede Feeding Zeus as an Eagle'. Look for Jason standing triumphantly with the Golden Fleece and the charming friezes depicting his triumphant return from Rome to Denmark.

Architecture & Building
A striking example of Neoclassical architecture, the entire building wraps around a serene inner courtyard where Thorvaldsen is buried. The exterior is adorned with frescoes depicting the sculptor's homecoming, making the building itself a piece of the collection.
