Thirukoneswaram Kovil
About This Museum
You'd never guess this ancient Hindu temple was once a crucial Portuguese and Dutch fort, with old cannons still pointing out to sea. Perched dramatically on Swami Rock, the cliffside location gives you these insane, panoramic views of the ocean that just go on forever. The air is thick with the scent of frangipani and incense, and the sound of bells mixes with the crash of waves below. It's this incredible, powerful mix of deep spirituality and raw military history all in one breathtaking spot.
Collection Highlights
Look for the ancient stone carvings of deities tucked into the rock face and don't miss the old Portuguese cannons aimed at the harbor—it's a wild contrast.
