Talaat Harb museum ( Bank of egypt museum )
About This Museum
Tucked away on a bustling street in downtown Cairo, this museum is a total hidden gem. You step off the chaotic pavement and right into the elegant world of Egypt's early 20th-century financial history. It feels more like walking through a beautifully preserved, grand old bank than a stuffy museum. I was completely charmed by the atmosphere and the story it tells.
Collection Highlights
You'll see original mahogany teller counters, heavy old safes, and fascinating ledgers that detail the birth of Egyptian industry. Don't miss the personal artifacts of Talaat Harb Pasha himself, including his iconic tarboosh and glasses, which make the history feel incredibly personal.
Visitor Information
It's easy to find at 151 Mohammed Farid Street. Since it's inside a working bank, just check their social media for current opening hours before you go—it’s not your typical nine-to-five museum!
Architecture & Building
The building itself is a stunning example of Beaux-Arts architecture, with a majestic marble staircase, soaring high ceilings, and gorgeous ornate details everywhere you look.
