This isn't your typical quiet museum; it's a sprawling open-air site where our town's history as a royal mining center truly comes to life. You'll walk past simple wooden cottages that were hauled here from mining villages across the country, each one telling a silent story of the people who lived in them. The real heart of the place, though, is the guided tour deep into the cool, damp mining tunnels—you can almost hear the echoes of picks and feel the weight of the mountain above you.
Collection Highlights
The star attraction is definitely the chance to don a helmet and descend into the actual Michal Adit, a historic drainage tunnel. Up on the surface, you'll find a collection of authentic miner's dwellings, like the Forester's House from Štiavnické Bane and a charcoal burner's hut, all furnished just as they would have been.
