Skokloster Castle
About This Museum
People come to Skokloster Castle not just for another history lesson, but to feel like they've stepped through a time portal into the 17th century. It's almost spooky how it was just... left as is, with everything from the grand banquet halls to the personal arms and armaments of its founder, Carl Gustaf Wrangel, still in place. You can wander through rooms where a lavish Baroque feast seems to have just ended, and then step outside to stroll the beautiful parkland right on the edge of Lake Mälaren. The whole place has this incredible, frozen-in-amber quality that’s completely unforgettable.
Collection Highlights
The unfinished 'Cannon Hall' where a 300-year-old construction project was simply abandoned, and Wrangel's personal arsenal of ornate weapons and hunting trophies.
Visitor Information
Just a heads up, it's seasonal and closed during the winter, so you'll want to check their website for opening times before you make the trip out there.
