Site Museum Huaca Rajada - Sipan
About This Museum
You won't believe this, but the man they found here was buried with a whole squad of companions and two llamas for the afterlife. The museum sits right at the foot of the ancient adobe pyramids where it all happened, so you're literally staring at history. It feels more like walking through a sleek, modern treasure chest than a dusty old museum. Every artifact, from the intricate gold nose ornaments to the fierce-looking ceramic warriors, tells a piece of this incredible story.
Collection Highlights
The centerpiece is the stunning replica of the Lord of Sipán's tomb, complete with all his regalia. You'll also see his famous gold and turquoise ear spools and the skeletal remains of the sacrifices found alongside him.
Visitor Information
It's located just outside Chiclayo in Lambayeque—definitely worth the trip. Wear comfy shoes, as you'll want to explore both the museum and climb up to see the actual excavation site.
Architecture & Building
The building has a sharp, angular modern design that's meant to echo the form of the ancient huaca pyramids themselves.
