Shaheed Smriti Songrohoshala
About This Museum
Up on the sprawling, green campus of Rajshahi University, tucked away in the main Admin Building, you'll find a place that holds our local history close. It's not a grand, standalone structure, but the stories within its walls are monumental. This is the Shaheed Smriti Songrohoshala, a museum dedicated entirely to the valiant souls we lost in our Language Movement and Liberation War. Walking through here, you feel the weight and pride of 1971 in a deeply personal way.
Collection Highlights
You can see the personal belongings of some of our university's own martyrs—a pair of spectacles, a worn-out textbook, a handwritten letter. The black and white photographs are particularly moving; they capture moments of both immense struggle and hope that defined the fight for our nation.
Visitor Information
Since it's inside the Admin Building, just ask anyone on campus for directions—they'll point you right. There's no hefty entry fee; it's more about paying your respects. Do check the university's academic calendar before you go, as hours can vary during exam periods or holidays.
Architecture & Building
The museum resides within the stately, though somewhat austere, concrete Admin Building from the mid-20th century. It’s very much a functional part of the university's heartbeat rather than an ornate monument.
