You'd never guess it, but the grand Clerecía was built by the Jesuits to rival Salamanca's ancient university. Tucked away inside is Scala Coeli, a museum whose name means 'Ladder to Heaven'—and you'll soon see why. It leads you up through the old academic quarters and into the breathtaking twin bell towers that crown the city. From that dizzying height, you get a secret view of Salamanca's sea of terracotta roofs and spires that most visitors completely miss.
Collection Highlights
The journey itself is the main exhibit, winding through historic lecture halls and sacristies. But the real treasure is waiting at the top: a 360-degree panoramic view from the towers, where you can spot the cathedral's intricate carvings and trace the path of the Tormes River.
