Sauriermuseum
About This Museum
You might not expect to find one of Switzerland's most impressive prehistoric collections in a converted textile factory, but that's the charm of the Sauriermuseum. It feels less like a sterile institution and more like a treasure hunt, where every corner reveals another ancient giant. The main hall is dominated by an incredibly complete Plateosaurus skeleton, a local find that stretches an astonishing six meters long. You can get up close to the teeth of a T.rex cast and touch real dinosaur footprints, making the distant past feel thrillingly immediate.
Collection Highlights
The star is 'Robi,' a near-complete Plateosaurus from the nearby Frick region. Other gems include a terrifying Allosaurus skull, beautifully preserved marine reptiles suspended from the ceiling, and a trackway slab covered in genuine dinosaur footprints you can run your fingers over.

It's easy to find at Römerstrasse 6 in Bellach—just look for the unassuming industrial building that holds these ancient secrets inside. Don't let the modest exterior fool you; it's packed with wonders and makes for a perfect, compact afternoon adventure.
Architecture & Building
Housed in a repurposed red-brick textile factory, the building retains its industrial character with high ceilings and open spaces, which perfectly frame the massive skeletons within.
