You crest a grassy hill in the middle of the Sardinian countryside and there it is—a massive, stepped stone platform that looks more like a Mesopotamian ziggurat than anything you'd expect in Italy. It’s eerily quiet up there, with just the wind and the sprawling view of the plains below. You can't help but run your hand over the ancient stones, wondering about the rituals that played out on this very spot over 5,000 years ago.
Collection Highlights
The main event is the altar itself, a monumental ramp leading up to a sacred platform. Scattered around the base, you'll find mysterious menhirs, sacrificial stones, and a strange spherical stone whose purpose archaeologists still debate.
Visitor Information
It's an open-air site, so wear good shoes and maybe a hat—there's not much shade. The small ticket office is right at the base of the embankment; it's a straightforward spot where you pay your entry fee and then you're free to explore at your own pace.
