Remington Carriage Museum
About This Museum
Would you believe this place holds over 250 horse-drawn vehicles? Tucked away in Cardston, the Remington Carriage Museum is a massive, modern-looking building that feels like a treasure chest for history buffs. Stepping inside, you're immediately surrounded by the gentle smell of leather and wood, with carriages of every imaginable sort lined up as if waiting for their next passenger. It’s not just a static display; you can watch artisans in the workshop carefully restoring these beautiful relics to their former glory. The sheer scale and variety completely changed my idea of what travel used to be like.
Collection Highlights
You can see everything from a simple farmer's wagon to an incredibly ornate funeral hearse, plus stagecoaches that look straight out of a Western movie. One of the coolest things is the royal carriage built for Queen Elizabeth II's visit in 1973.
Visitor Information
It's right on Main Street in Cardston – you really can't miss it. Definitely check their website for demo times; seeing the carriages actually pulled by horses on the grounds is a real treat.
Architecture & Building
From the outside, it's a striking, large building with a rustic stone and metal facade that gives a nod to its Alberta ranch country surroundings.
