Out here in the Crowsnest Pass, the landscape itself tells a story, and the Frank Slide Interpretive Centre sits right at the heart of its most dramatic chapter. It's perched on the edge of the massive rubble field, a stark reminder of that morning in 1903 when Turtle Mountain came crashing down. The silence out there on the viewing platform is heavy, making you feel the sheer scale of the disaster. Inside, they've done a wonderful job of making it about the people—the miners who were trapped, the families who lost everything overnight.
Collection Highlights
You'll find pieces of life pulled from the rock, like a child's shoe, alongside gripping first-hand accounts that put you right there in the doomed town. The exhibits don't just show you what happened; they make you feel it.
Visitor Information
It's easy to find just off Highway 3. Make sure you walk out onto that platform—the view of those boulders stretching for kilometres is something you can't get from a photo.

The building is modern and low-slung, built right into the hillside as if it's trying not to disturb the solemn ground it rests upon.
