Planetario de Bogotá

About This Museum

Tucked right in the heart of Bogotá, near the sprawling Parque de la Independencia, the Planetario de Bogotá is a true city icon. I just spent an afternoon there and was completely transported; the main dome theater makes you feel like you're floating through the cosmos during their incredible astronomy shows. Beyond the main event, you can easily lose track of time exploring the space museum's interactive displays and grabbing a surprisingly good coffee at their cafe. It’s a perfect escape from the city bustle, offering a fascinating journey from the heart of Colombia straight to the stars.

Collection Highlights

The real highlight is lying back in the domed theater for a full-dome projection that sweeps you across nebulae and distant galaxies. Downstairs, you can get up close with real meteorites, see historic models of rockets, and try out hands-on exhibits that explain the physics of our universe.

Visitor Information

It's super easy to find at Calle 26B #5-93 in the Santa Fé neighborhood. Definitely check their website for showtimes in Spanish before you go, as that's the main event. Don't miss popping into the gift shop for some unique space-themed souvenirs on your way out.

Architecture & Building

It's this fantastic brutalist concrete structure, a massive circular building that looks like a futuristic fortress landed in the city, which feels perfectly fitting for a portal to the stars.
