Place of Memory, Tolerance and Social Inclusion (LUM)
About This Museum
Down in the Bajada San Martín, right here in Miraflores, you'll find the LUM, a place that asks us to sit with a difficult chapter of our history. It doesn't shy away from the hard truths of those two decades of violence between terrorist groups and the state. Walking through its quiet, thoughtful spaces, you're confronted with personal stories and artifacts that make the statistics feel heartbreakingly real. It's more than a museum; it's a vital space for reflection on a past we're still learning to heal from.
Collection Highlights
You'll see simple, powerful displays—perhaps a worn-out shoe or a faded photograph—that tell intimate stories of loss and resilience from the internal conflict. The main exhibition leads you through a timeline of the violence, punctuated by personal testimonies and recovered items that ground the history in human experience.
Visitor Information
It's free to enter, though hours can change, so it's best to check their website before you head over. Give yourself a good couple of hours to really take it all in; it's not a place you'll want to rush through.
Architecture & Building
The building itself is strikingly modern, all sharp angles and concrete, designed to feel sober and contemplative rather than ornate or celebratory.
