Phu Wiang Dinosaur Museum
About This Museum
You probably don't think of Thailand as a land of dinosaurs, but the Phu Wiang mountains are one of the most important dinosaur regions in all of Southeast Asia. This small but mighty museum makes that incredible history tangible. It's a place where you can stand beneath the towering skeleton of a Sauropod and feel truly tiny. The exhibits are a perfect mix of impressive full-scale models and the real, excavated fossils found right here in Khon Kaen.
Collection Highlights
Don't miss the 'Siamotyrannus isanensis', a early cousin of the T-Rex discovered locally. Seeing its menacing jaw up close is a thrill. The collection of fossilized eggs and footprints gives you an intimate glimpse into the daily life of these ancient giants.
Visitor Information
It's compact enough to enjoy in an hour or two, which is perfect for a detour from Khon Kaen city. Grab a unique dinosaur-themed souvenir from their gift shop on your way out—it’s way better than the usual keychains.
Architecture & Building
The building itself is modern and functional, with clean lines, but it's cleverly designed to feel like you're entering a giant excavation site.
