Palacio Lopez Villasenor

About This Museum

Stepping into the Palacio López Villaseñor feels like walking straight into the 15th century. This isn't just a museum; it's the former home of a royal scribe, and its Mudejar ceilings and original tilework tell a story before you even get to the exhibits. I loved getting lost in the quiet, sun-drenched courtyard, imagining life here centuries ago. It’s an intimate glimpse into Ciudad Real's past that feels more like a secret discovery than a formal museum.

Collection Highlights

The star for me was the incredible scale model of Ciudad Real as it looked in the 19th century—you could stare at it for an hour. The palace itself is the main exhibit, with its perfectly preserved Gothic-Mudejar architecture and rooms filled with period furniture that make history feel tangible.

Visitor Information

It's tucked away on Calle Reyes, right in the historic center, so it's easy to pop into after seeing the cathedral. The staff were wonderfully friendly and full of little-known facts about the palace's former residents.

Architecture & Building

A stunning example of late Gothic civil architecture with beautiful Mudejar influences, especially visible in the intricate wooden coffered ceilings and the serene interior courtyard.
