About This Museum
People wander up to Studor in Bohinj for the famous hayracks, of course, but they often find themselves pulled into this old house by the mountainside. Once inside, you're stepping right into the world of the Oplen family, who lived and worked here for generations. It feels less like a museum and more like the family has just stepped out for a moment, leaving their tools on the bench and the scent of woodsmoke in the air. You leave with a real sense of the stubborn, beautiful rhythm of alpine life.
Collection Highlights
The heart of it is the original living quarters with its massive black kitchen, but don't miss the tools for making wooden shingles or the humble objects that tell a hundred small stories about daily survival.
